20 September 2008 – Hip Hop Hurray 5 ! Sup Represent !

This was the promo shoot done none other by our very own Sup photographer Yasin just for this event.

On the actual day of the event, i attended my first Hip-hop event to show some love to Freakyz x Shino x DJ Ruxta and his crew. The atmosphere was good, local heads turned up to show their support and i was impressed with the crowd that was there especially for FreakyZ x Shino x DJ Rusxta event. Music by Dj Ruxta was really impressive and it sort of sets the vibe before the actual show. The show by Freakyz x Shino x DJ Ruxta was especially good that we felt so well represented by local heads of hip hop. This will not be the last time i go for hip hop gigs, as i never really like to attend any events or gigs. To me, events/gigs are just way of being “Fake” and “Sociable” in order to get something in return, but this event really makes me enjoy myself and feel that Sup is appreciated by many local heads.

Familiar faces representing SUP during the event, this guy is someone that does not talk too much and everytime he comes to Sup, he would just pick and buy. Thank you! See you during our party on 25 October 2008.

Bum Ariffin & Yasin

Let me introduce these 2 guys who really supported SUP.

Yasin(www.flickr.com/mr36) was our first photographer introduced by Aaron(SUP store manager). He was the one that did the photo shoot for our first collection and he currently owns more than 11 SUP tees! We couldn’t believe that a mere stranger we just met would put in so much effort in promoting our brand to anyone or any gigs that he had attended. If I am not wrong, Yasin would be shooting at Bay Beats Singapore this year. We believe that his photos will be awesome as ever.

Bum(www.bumariffin.deviantart.com) is another photographer whom we met through Yasin. He also shoots for Pageone as a freelancer and from what we know of him, he is considered relatively famous in our small industry. Our Second collection was co-shot by him and Yasin which turns out to be especially good. Bum also own around 10 SUP tees. What can we say? Guess we’ll just have to sponsor them in our upcoming collection!

SUP is extremely grateful to the both of them for their tremendous support all this while. We’ve met a whole lot of awesome people while doing SUP and this is just simple way to show our appreciation to them. THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING SUP!!!

Once again Fabrik Contemporary Art is leading the way in providing contemporary art for Hong Kong. With their new gallery space finally complete, Fabrik will launch the first ever Murakami + artworks in Hong Kong. Takashi Murakami needs no introduction and he is well known in the art scene for making thought-provoking paintings and sculptures, running the influential artist-led art enterprise Kaikai Kiki artist management group, curating the visionary Superflat show, and collaborating on high-end, high profile projects with Louis Vuitton.

This exhibition will show prints and canvases from 2001 to 2008 noting his famous DOB, Murakami’s little mouse like leitmotif, a cartoonish and clueless creation. Along with works from fellow Kaikai Kiki artists Mr. and Chiho Aoshima.
